BMW 2 Series Active Tourer

SPACE. THE GREATEST LUXURY, COMES AS STANDARD.

All BMW models exploit every inch of cabin space, so you’ll find deep door bins, glove boxes, space for a mobile in the front centre armrest – if one is fitted – and a similar approach in the rear.

BMW 1 Series AND BMW X1.

Family cars are asked to transport goods as much as people. So it’s important that the vehicle can offer as much flexibility and space, and be able to switch between the two modes easily. The BMW 1 Series 5-door has a boot volume of 360 litres with the rear seats in place. For more space, the rear seats split 60:40, and with the addition of the Through Loading option will split 40:20:40. Folding almost completely flat there’s 1,200 litres of space, and a low boot lip too.

The BMW X1 has a boot volume of up to 505 litres. This is ‘up to’, as the rear seats will slide forwards or backwards by up to 130mm, and will do so in a 40:60 split for further practicality. Folded nearly flat - the backrests split 40:20:40 – there’s 1,550 litres of space, and to make the operation easier, the backrest release button is accessible from the boot. The lack of any boot lip makes loading and unloading the boot simple.

BMW 2 Series Active Tourer AND Gran Tourer.

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has space for all your transport needs. The rear seats split 40:60 and travel up to 130mm for either more legroom or more luggage space. The backs fold down via a button on either side, accessible from the boot, and split 40:20:40 creating a near flat surface – the volume goes from 468 litres to 1,510. There’s more: specify run-flat tyres and the space where the spare wheel would have gone is freed up to use – 70 litres under the floor of the boot.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, with all the seats in position, has 145 litres of space. Start folding seats down and this rapidly increases; 560 with the rear seats folded, and 1,820 with all the seats folded down. The parcel shelf stores under the floor of the boot, and there’s no lip on the boot edge, making loading awkward objects easier.

The space available in the BMW 3 Series Touring belies its status as a driver’s car. The boot has 495 litres, which increases to 1,500 with all the seats folded flat. The option of the Through Loading system enables two rear seat passengers and long items like skis to be carried at the same time.

The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo has 550 litres of space with the rear seats up, 1,600 litres with them down, which takes just a simple pull of a lever. A two-part parcel shelf – the rear section moves in unison with the tailgate – stores beneath the boot floor, so it’s out of the way when not needed.

For active families, the BMW X3 makes an ideal vehicle. Three adults will fit in the rear seats comfortably with plenty of leg room for all. The boot’s capacity is 550 litres with seats in place, increasing to 1,600 with the rear seat down – they split in a 40:20:40 for maximum flexibility. The extended storage pack, fitted as standard, provides plenty of extra storage with hooks and nets in the rear to stop items moving around.

The BMW 5 Series Touring wants for nothing, including boot space. Seats up there is 560 litres, while seats down there’s 1,670. Functionality is helped by a 60:40 split, and they lie almost completely flat.

In the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo the rear seats can move forwards and backwards, depending on the priorities; shifting them all the way forwards gives 650 litres of space and they fold flat via one lever, creating 1,700 litres of boot space.
The BMW X5’s boot measures 650 litres with the seats up (assuming you’ve not specified the extra third row) and increases to 1,870 with everything folded flat.
