POPULAR COUPÉ
OWNERSHIP QUESTIONS.

Owning a BMW Coupé brings a host of motoring pleasures, but raises one or two questions with many prospective buyers...

Usually based on a saloon, the coupé models have only two doors and a lower roofline, particularly at the back, to give a more aerodynamic shape. They also tend to have more powerful engines and suspension that’s firmer, so as to corner better. As such, coupé models tend to appeal to the sportier driver.

If you are just looking to transport yourself and one other, plus accompanying luggage, then a coupé is an option. If you want a car that’s more focused on the driver’s enjoyment than being able to move a fridge, then a coupé is an option. And if you prefer the styling of a car that’s been honed to be an expression of motoring prowess, rather than creating the optimum amount of internal space for a given size, then you should consider a coupé.

It depends on your priorities. A coupé can’t offer wind-in-your-hair motoring, but they tend to be lighter and stiffer, making them more responsive. If all out driving enjoyment is important, there’s no contest, choose a coupé.

BMW Coupés come in three sizes and each has distinct characteristics. The BMW 4 Series Coupé and Gran Coupé are both a drivers’ car, yet have space for the family. If the rear seats will be used more occasionally, the BMW 2 Series Coupé is definitely worth considering, while if absolute luxury is important, the BMW 6 Series models will be a natural choice.

At 480 litres, the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé has the most room.
