With Double-VANOS, Valvetronic, High-Precision Injection and a TwinScroll turbocharger, it generates 240 kW (326 hp) and has an average combined fuel consumption rate of 36.7 to 41.5 mpg.

The new-generation BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder diesel engine offers impressive power delivery combined with exceptional consumption figures. The engine delivers 190 kW (258 hp) to 230 kW (313 hp) and a maximum torque of 560 to 630 Nm.

Drive Experience Control puts you in total control. Selecting the SPORT mode or optionally SPORT+ causes the engine to respond more spontaneously, ideal for agile handling during dynamic driving. It’s especially apparent in combination with the optional Adaptive M suspension, which adjusts to driving style and road conditions through electronic control.
An ideal 50:50 axle load distribution ensures great directional stability, agile handling and a precise steering response. At the same time, a lower centre of gravity and shorter overhangs improve driving characteristics.
​By electronically regulating the shock absorbers, Adaptive M suspension automatically tunes the vehicle to suit all driving conditions. Suspension characteristics can also be adjusted via the Drive Experience Control to enable the preferred driving style - from comfortable to athletic with markedly agile handling.

Variable sport steering with Servotronic enables a direct and agile driving style with less physical effort when steering. Through reacting to the angle of the steering wheel independently from the current speed, the steering movement required at large angles is reduced. The selectable SPORT+ mode is an additional feature of this package.

The optional 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission offers exceptional shifting comfort and the best possible efficiency. Short shifting times improve acceleration while the fine spacing of the gears allow barely noticeable changes. At the same time, the engine is maintained at the ideal level of revs for optimum power delivery while noise level is reduced. The eighth gear reduces the required engine speed, thus reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
